The 8 days Uganda safari adventure combines the best of primate tracking and game viewing taking you to Kibale forest– home of the largest population of chimpanzees plus 12 other primate species, Bwindi national park– home to half the population of endangered mountain gorillas in the world and then Queen Elizabeth national park– one of the most popular sightseeing destinations in Uganda offering exciting boat tours along the infamous Kazinga channel. Trip also includes visits to the Maramagambo forest, Ishasha, Batwa people & Lake Bunyonyi.
Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1- Transfer to Kibale Forest
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel or airport and drive you to Kible National Park. Enjoy an en-route stopover in Fort Portal for lunch and a chance to visit the Royal Tooro Palace that towers over the town center.
Day 2- Chimpanzee tracking & Bigodi swamp walk
Enjoy an early morning breakfast before heading of to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for briefing about rules and requirements for chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale forest. After breeding, you will be offered walking sticks and led into the forests by UWA guides in search of the primates. Trekking usually takes between 3 to 5 hours depending on the location of the chimps at that particle moment but even before you encounter the chimpanzees, look out for birds and other primates that call the forest home. Return to the lodge for lunch and some rest and later in the evening prepare for a guided nature walk through Bigodi Swamp where you will get chances to spot various bird species as well as primates.
Day 3- Transfer to Queen Elizbeth National Park
After an early morning breakfast, prepare for transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing via the Ishasha sector where you will get a chance to spot the infamous tree-climbing lions. After that short game drive, Proceed to your safari lodge or campsite to check in for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4- Morning game drive & Kazinga channel boat cruise
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and prepare for a morning game drive along the Kasenyi plains for a chance to catch the nocturnal animals retreating their home after a night hunt. You will encounter a variety fo wild animals during the game drive including lions, leopards, buffaloes, numerous antelope species to mention but a few. After game drive, drive back to the lodge or camp for lunch and then prepare for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel at 2 pm. You will encounter a variety of birds and animals including huge populations of crocodiles and hippos. Transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5- Transfer to Bwindi National Park & Maramgamabo forest
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and prepare for a transfer to Bwindi National Park with an en-route stop over at Maramagambo forest where you will encounter chimpanzees, birds, forest hogs, dwarf antelopes and several other primate species and the rare cave bats. Enjoy lunch in the wild before proceeding to Bwindi National Park arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge /camp.
Day 6- Gorilla trekking experience & Batwa visit
Enjoy an early morning breakfast before being driven to the park region quarters for a briefing about rules and requirements for gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest. Led by UWA guides, you will head into the forest in search of the gorillas with trekking lasting between 3 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once in their midst, you will have one hour to observe and take pictures of the mountain gorillas in the wild. Enjoy your lunch in the wild before trekking to a pick-up point. you will be transferred back to the lodge/ camp.
In the afternoon, prepare for a cultural visit to the infamous pygmy tribe of Batwa believed to be the original inhabitants of the Bwindi forest. Learn about their way of life as you enjoy dance performances from the families. Transfer back to lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7- Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Say goodbye to Bwindi National Park and prepare for transfer to Lake Bunyonyi- one of the most beautiful lakes in Uganda renowned for having up to 29 islands, romantic shores and numerous bird species. Its the perfect destination to relax after a Uganda safari adventure with numerous activities available including island hopping, swimming, boat trips among others.
Day 8- Transfer back to Kampala city
Check out of your Lake Bunyonyi lodge or camp and prepare for transfer back to Kampala city or airport ending the primate & wildlife safari in Uganda.
