3 Day Kibale Chimpanzee Safari

Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda and is home to one of the largest populations of chimpanzees in the world. The park consists of dense tropical rainforest, grasslands, and swamps, providing the perfect environment for a wide variety of wildlife. Of the 4950 chimpanzees in Uganda, Kible forest is home to up to 1490 chimpanzees plus 11 other primate species making it a popular primate tracking destination in Uganda and best place to see chimpanzees in the wild.

Kibale Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer Kibale National Park

Our driver or guide will pick you up from your hotel. residence or airport and drive you to Kible forest which is 253 km west of Kampala with the road trip lasting about 4 and half hours using the Kampala-Hoima & A109 routes. Check in at the lodge for lunch before embarking on a nature walk around the park where you may have the chance to spot some of the park’s other residents, such as monkeys, birds, and butterflies.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking

The highlight of your safari will be the chimpanzee tracking experience. Early in the morning, you will set out with your guide to track a habituated group of chimpanzees. As you trek through the forest, you will have the opportunity to observe these incredible creatures up close in their natural habitat.
During your tracking experience, you may also encounter other primates, such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and various bird species. Your guide will provide you with interesting information about the flora and fauna of the park, making your experience both educational and exciting. Transfer back to the lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary and Departure

On your final day, you will visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run project that is home to a wide variety of bird species, as well as primates such as the red-tailed monkey and the black-and-white colobus monkey. After a guided walk through the wetland, you will have the opportunity to interact with members of the local community and learn about their way of life.
After lunch, you will bid farewell to Kibale National Park and begin your journey back to the city ending the safari in Kibale national park.
